People would first want to know what the chat is about or so, maybe looking like this:

Hello xat community,
I am interested of my group xat.com/ my group name to be more popular.
This chat is about art/music/tv/movies/help/business/games/rpg/anime/etc.

Please, don't just go COME TO THIS CHAT xat.com/ my group name!

This way users know the chat and would come, otherwise they will now know what the chat is about or whats it for!

I thought it was important that users that come get a chance to understand what our chat is about. I hope you don't consider the three links I chose as advertising, they are there only to help someone understand the subjects before visiting our chat.

I was also sure to put the link to the chat at the bottom so that they would have to read through it all to get to the link in the first place.

I am also wondering what differences I should make to this post in order to put it into the 'Popular groups' subforum since we have made the list often.

It isn't the post that makes it to popular forum, it's how popular the chat you're advertising is.

I think you may have misunderstood.

All it takes is to post and My chat will be in that subforum whether it is actually popular or not. (although it would be likely to be removed)

Although Theimportantsnakes has actually made the official popular and featured Xat lists many times.

There wasn't exactly a guideline on what information about my chat that I should put there. I guess I'm a little to mature to simply put "Hey my chat is popular everyone talk about it."

Acutely, its a mix, providing detail about your chat, and having a good chat to back up the detail you give is the best way to go about it. Just having this or that, does not mean your going to have it set for life.

Nice detailed post that does not look noobish, an a chat that does not look noobish is a good combination. ;)
