Competition Idea/Scavenger hunt on your forum

This could be a cool idea .
Basically each owner of a chat room has a *ticket* that has to be collected, Each contestent has to find the ticket within a certain time ,The winner collects a prize

Also they could get members form the chatroom to take part, thus getting them to register with forums

I did this on an old site. We jid a random picture around it. The people had to find all of the pictures. they were in ads ect. First person to complete got prize. Lots of fun

Yeah But theres isnt even 20 active members that post on a daily basis.

the point is to first draw them here. Then we have to interest them enough to keep them here. Perhaps not pictures. Ask them questions about community--make them search for answers. this helps them get to know the site and shows them whats here. That is key. Before we do this-we have lots of cool work to do. We need to have a meeting in community chat. I could tell everyone my idea there and we could suggest. Perhaps shin can arange the time.

Yea that'd be great but overall I'd really like the admin to get on, take 10 minutes out of his time, and edit with the AdminCP so we can use signatures, add a Xat banner at the top of the page, change up the forum style or at least add new forum styles for us to be able to choose from to view on our side only, and maybe add some new post ranks... Then more people would be more interested in our fun community and come here of their own will-- without us having to work our a:confused::confused:es off to bring people in here... Go look at the main page anyone reading this, what do you see? Over 40 guests am I right? And it doesn't matter if a year passes from when this post was made I bet you 10,000 Xats that it will still be at least over 30 ALL THE TIME. Now guess how many of those guests register for our community.. 10% or less. Because to most of them, they're judging the community from what they see on the outside. They're not going in and checking out all our posts and laughing and saying "Oh I never knew that before, that's helpful!" Because If you walk to the entrance of a cave without knowing there's gold less than a fourth of a mile within it (which is a short walk..) you won't go in it will you? Now I understand that the Xat Staff and thank them greatly for making Xat and this forum, but TEN minutes is all that's needed.. Heck, I'll even make 10 Banners for no cost, go get links to different VBulletin styles, make tutorials on how to edit the AdminCP to enable signatures, and even get a code for a GOOD LOOKING forum shoutbox (If even needed) and make a tutorial for that. Well maybe someday eh?

And that's a great idea Lizzie, although it might not be many people participating because of our low active member rate it's still a good suggestion nonetheless.

I suggested it to Liz and it got turned down, and then LINKSWORD2 tried it in Freewebs not to long ago, and just about everyone was joining in. :rolleyes:

ok look-we have to show them something worth putting time into. I understand what you are saying. We have to start somewhere though. You all sit here-work your butts off posting and caring, yet when it comes down to it-you want to talk to an admin first. Something has to give. Ideas and talk isn't enough. Do something about it!!

But we are trying and at the end of the day only the admin can make things happen. We all have ideas but we dont have the knowlege on how to put into practice(well i certainly dont) thats when ppl who know how to do the programming etc come in

Unfortunately.. what can we do about it.. we cannot change anything here [we cant even close our own threads for god sake] someone with power needs to do something so we can change it and get it sorted then we can show why they should care about here... (;

if they speant 15mins reading our posts they would realize... to my knowledge im not even sure if they know people even post on this anymore..

I read it and I am sure that the Admin that has been on the past few days has as well. I know that other mods have told me they have spoken to administration regarding an overhaul as well.

Sounds like a cool idea.

EDIT: The forums need to stop being boring, that is how to bring and KEEP active members, this forum is not good in keeping members active.
