Stir-up Sunday falls on 22 November
Stir-up Sunday is the traditional day for everyone in the family to take a turn at stirring the Christmas pudding, whilst making a wish. Before Christmas puddings were sold ready-made in foil containers, they were always made at home. They were made a month before Christmas day so they had time to mature.
On Stir-up Sunday families returned from Church to give the pudding its traditional lucky stir. They always stirred the pudding from East to West in honour of the three Wise Men who visited the baby Jesus.
Children were often heard chanting the following rhyme:
Stir up, we beseech thee, the pudding in the pot;
And when we get home we'll eat the lot.
These words were an adaptation of what they had heard in church on this day.
To mark this we are holding a contest for the best pudding!!!
This can be a drawn image,picture,poem,song or whatever. use your imagination.... competition will endon 22nd and winner will be announced

it was always tradition to have a home cooked Christmas pudding which has silver coins or tokens mixed into it – this is something my family has always done. If you find a coin it will bring you luck for the year.
homemade xmas puddings taste so much better and you also know whats going into them.

We used to make Corn Pudding and Banana Pudding from scratch. With the Banana Pudding, we use lemon pudding mix, make the pudding ourselves, chop the bananas up and stir them into the processed pudding mix, of course, add Vanilla Wafers in an empty serving bowl, and then we pour the first layer of banana pudding into the empty bowl and repeat the step until we reach three layers to the recipe. At the end, we sprinkle the last batch of vanilla waffers on the top layer of pudding and banana. I don't remember the ingredients for the Corn Pudding. It's been so long since we made these holiday puddings. :cool: Other than this, we typically don't serve Stir-Up Sunday's tradition. Now did I blow up a family recipe? :eek
